Kailani had been staring at the horizon since they had weighed anchor. Her gaze now wandered in the rosy glow of dusk. She smelled the spray and smiled. The crew had only spent three weeks in port, but she had missed the ocean. Four months, it was probably the time it would take them to reach the mainland and deliver their cargo, if they didn’t run into any danger along the way. So, for at least four months, she would be in her element and probably the happiest of the crew.
